So, last year I bought this bureau from a car boot sale for £15. It was originally dark brown but I spent days sanding it down with the intention of painting it... as you can see though, i never got round to painting it. Husband now likes it the way it is. What do you think? Paint it or leave it as it is?

This my surprise you, cause I paint anything that stands still long enough...but I say Keep it like that!! It looks lovely and your hard work has def paid off!!
ReplyDeletei'd say leave it - looks fab as it is and if you paint it you will regret it (trust me from someone who's been there)
ReplyDeleteit looks really pretty as it is, we got a dark varnished bureau for nothing, it was going to be thrown away, we sanded it down and painted it duck egg blue, it looks smaller now, not so imposing and really pretty, it was really dark and ugly before! fliss xx
ReplyDeleteSo What's it to be the hun?! Have you decided yet?!

P.s am def gonna have a table at the vintage fair in Northamptonshire too, so will meet you then!!
Hi! Thanks for all your comment!
ReplyDeleteI think i will leave it as it is. Once we have moved home i will have to see how it looks then may have to decide again!

Think you made the right decision - it's lovely I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteI say leave it, it's stunning. I have an oak bureau in that dark stain (why did they do that in the 1920-30s??!). You have inspired me to think about sanding it.
